What if weakness was actually an asset rather than a problem?
A lot of people are scared of being weak, and they’re scared of getting hurt, they’re scared of being seen as weak. I’ve got a different opinion on weakness, I think it’s one of the biggest strengths that we can have. Weakness is the open door pathway to receptivity which is the first step of growth. Sometimes this means we have to show our weakness to somebody else.
I did this last year and I’ve done it many times when I needed support. Once you actually understand weakness from its purest perspective, it opens the doorway to vulnerability. Weakness as a leader, is essential for people to look at you as a real-life person that is breakable. As a leader you don’t have to separate yourself from other people, because you’ve “gotten there”, there’s no such thing as getting there.
It’s really important that you understand how to become weak in a way that’s going to allow you to be supported in the most important way that you can be. What I’ve learned with weakness is that when people are able to show weakness, they actually start becoming more honest. It allows you to really share the depths of all the problems that you are hiding from the world, that you don’t want anyone to know about.
So, weakness is an asset guys, and the more that you understand how to be weak, the more truthful, vulnerable and real you will be, and you’re going to let people in to be able to get the support on the broken parts that you haven’t solved yet.
